Affliation
The School is affiliated to the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi and admits students in LKG to class – XII. Direct admission to class X and XII is not given. Only the transfer cases from ICSE school may be accepted. Minimum age for admission 3.5 years.

Subject of study for ICSE students:

English, Hindi, Punjabi, Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry & Physics), History, Geography Commercial Studies, Physical Education, Art and Craft, Music, Socially Useful Productive Work, Moral Science/Divinity and Computer Science are taught by well qualified and experienced academic staff.

Dagshai Public School (DPS), established in 1957, is a leading, well established, English-medium, co-educational residential school affiliated to The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) for ICSE (10th grade) and ISC (12th grade for Commerce and Humanities streams).

The School situated on a hill top, at a height of 6000 ft., has a large campus of  over 25 acres. The campus with its amazing view is green, pleasant, calm and pollution free. It is situated off the national highway 30 kms from Kalka. The nearest railway stations are Kumarhatti and Dharampur.

The Managing Board of Dagshai Public School is constituted by the Atam Science Trust and consists of eminent and talented persons from diverse fields. Computer Education

The aim of computer education in the school is to get the children acquainted with the latest in computer technology. The school has installed a very powerful, highly technical, computer laboratory.

A well-stocked, informative library is available in the school. The library has a wide variety of books catering to students of all classes along with reference books, story books, newspapers, magazines and other periodicals.

Modern and well-equipped science laboratories are available in school. There are Biology, Physics and Chemistry labs in the school.

In addition, we have Math & Geography labs where children grasp the finer points of the topics taught, and are taught to handle the intricacies of all concepts.

Educational Initiatives

Tests and Examinations:

Children are tested regularly and continuously for their academic progress, Class-work, Home-work, Class-tests, Projects, etc. The report cards are given to the parents four times a year to apprise them of the academic proficiency and progress of the child.

Parent-Teacher Meetings:

Parents are constantly encouraged and are provided with opportunities to interact with the teachers and to assist and share in the progress of their children.

Winter Coaching:

For students of ICSE & ISC, a winter coaching camp of about a month is held to clear any doubts, revise their syllabus and prepare them for Board exams.

Dagshai Public School focuses on the holistic development of students and offers a plethora of extra-curricular activities to facilitate this:

1. Mr. Birindar Singh Sidhu

Having retired as the 8th Director General Police of Uttarakhand in 2016, Mr Birindar Singh Sidhu was awarded The Police Medal for Gallantry in 1991 by the President of India for risking his life in a police operation. Later his services were commended for the handling of the 26/11 attack upon CST Mumbai. The CPU he formed in Uttarakhand was awarded for being “The Most Advanced Police Force of India” FICCI in 2017. Currently he is the President of the ‘Sidhwan Group of Institutes”

2. Mr. Rajwinder Singh Bhatti

Bihar’s Director General of Police, Mr Rajwinder Singh Bhatti, besides controlling crime and enforcing prohibition, is doing his best to improve the image of the Police Force. He is cracking down on criminals and breaking the police-liquor mafia nexus. To quote him, “My days at DPS resonated with me at the IPS training at National Police Academy Hyderabad, which was in large measure a more advanced version of my routine in DPS with focus on both academics and outdoors including sports.” Known as a hard taskmaster and no–nonsense police officer, he shot into national fame with the meticulously planned and ensured the arrest of strongman politician Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin in 2005. No police officer prior to him dared to arrest him because of his political clout.

3. Lt. General Jagbir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.)

The General, who is a self–made man, is a recipient of four awards from the President of India Distinguished Service of the most outstanding and exceptional order. During the course of his career, besides undertaking operational/counter-insurgency responsibilities, he has actively handled various internal security disaster management situations.

4. Maj. General Harishjit Singh (Retd.)

General H.J. Singh flew a solo Microlight Aircraft expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 1984 and created two world records in this expedition —

a) Having flown to 14500 ft. over the Banihal Pass as against the service ceiling of the aircraft being 12000 ft.

b) Flew 4300 Kms across the Indian sub-continent. For his valour and dynamic feat he was conferred the Shaurya Chakra and the Vishist Seva Medal. He is known as the ‘Father of Flying Microlight Aircrafts’ in the country.

5. Maj. General Karan Amol Singh Bhullar (Retd.)

He joined the Indian Army in the Armoured Corps and had a chequered career retiring as a Major General. He attributes his success to the grounding at Dagshai Public School. Post-retirement he was Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Project Director of a Society and established ten residential schools for meritorious students in Punjab.

6. Rana Gurjit Singh

A seasoned politician, statesman and senator, Rana Gurjit Singh is a well-known figure in the Punjab politics. A successful sugar baron, he remained a Cabinet Minister for some years.

7. Councillor Balwinder Singh Bains

Slough, close to Windsor, saw Balwinder Singh Bains as its Mayor for two years. Currently, he is serving his fifth term as the Councilor of Slough. He assisted King Charles in running the Heritage Trust and became part of his mission.

8. Dr. Rajiv Saizal

A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr. Saizal belongs to the Kasauli Constituency. In 2017 he was inducted as a Minister of Justice and Empowerment in the presence of prominent BJP leaders.

9. Mr. Harry Baweja

The Producer and Director of “Chaar Sahibzade”, Mr. Harry Baweja, is a renowned Producer and Director of the Bollywood Film Industry. Some of his other films include, “Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur”, “Happy Go Lucky”, “Love Story”, “Teesri Ankh”, and “Main Aisa Hi Hoon”

10. Mr. Tarsem Singh Dhandwar

An off-beat movie Director, Producer and Actor of Hollywood, he has recently won the Platform award for Best Feature Film, “Dear Jassi”, at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. He is scheduled to direct Ashok Rajamani’s “The Day My Brain Exploded”. His other notable films are, “Immortals”, “The Cell”, “Mirror Mirror”, “Self/Less” and “The Fall”.

11. Iqbal Singh Anand

Mr. I.S. Anand founded the ALP Group in 1984 and was the first in India to start a manufacturing unit of EPDM Rubber Profiles for the automotive industry. Today the company is a market leader with a turnover of Rs 1000 Cr. The Alp Group is the leading OEM supplier to the world’s best automobile brands. His second company ALP Aeroflex is also a Market leader. ALP overseas has a presence across five continents with offices in South Africa, Australia, Germany, USA.

12. Mr. Harveer Singh Sahni

As the Chairman of Weldon Celloplast Limited, Mr. Harveer Singh Sahni is running a well-established family business. Mr. Harveer Sahni is the first Indian stalwart to receive the R. Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award, which is a top international label for industry recognition. He has been the predictable face of Indian Label Industry across the globe at innumerous international events.

13. Mr. Jagmohan Singh Toor

Mr. Jagmohan Singh is a widely travelled and successful businessman who runs a sign manufacturing company. He is the Vice President of the Indian Sign Manufacturers Association and a pioneer of modern Signage in India. As an avid and proficient golfer, he is the President of the Northern India Golfers Association.

14. Mr. Parampreet Singh Randhawa

Having qualified the Indian Foreign Service in 1975, Mr. P.S. Randhawa retired as India’s Ambassador to Tunis in 2011. As a widely travelled diplomat, he rose to coveted ranks. He served in Tokyo, Vietnam, Switzerland, Mozambique, Massachusetts, Edinburgh and Nairobi. To quote him, “Throughout my journey, I remained a true Dagshanian at heart”.

15. Dr. Gurjit Singh Marwah

A renowned Neonatologist Dr. Gurjit Singh Marwah has set a record of saving the youngest babies of just 23 weeks gestation weighing under 500 grams. He has taken care of over 400,000 babies throughout his career. He has 35 years of medical services to his credit. After completing his MD from Howard University, he taught at the University of Maryland and at Looma Linda.

16. Dr. Onkarjit Singh Marwah

Voted as a top Cardiologist in the Pasadena Magazine, Dr. O. S. Marwah received a special blessing directly from the Pope for treating a couple of Cardinals of the Chritian Faith. He has been a Clinical Professor of Medicine in Cardiology at the University of California, the only Sikh in this position. He is the Medical Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at (a) Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center in Glendale, California and (b) Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles, CA.

17. Mr. Amitpal Singh Bedi

An entrepreneur and strategic investor Mr. A.S. Bedi is the Managing Director of Bedi Acquisitions Ltd., Partner of Bedi Quantum LLC in New York and holds several directorships world-wide. A bachelor with Honours in Finance and Investment Management from Sheffield Business School, a Masters in Economics and Quantitative Finance and an Executive MBA from Leeds University Business School he has completed his PhD in Quantitative Finance at Imperial College Business School and Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. As a Board Member of Oxbridge Scholarship Foundation, a charity which provides funding for students studying at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale, he supports and contributes to educational charities.

18. Dr. Jatinder Singh

A PhD in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur, Dr. Jatinder Singh is the recipient of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and has worked as a research scientist for two years in Germany. He has made significant contribution to the LCA – Tejas aircraft programme of India. As the Chief Scientist he holds the position of Advisor Management and Administration at CSIR – Nal, Bangalore.

19. Mr. Kamaljit Singh Mann

Mr. K.S. Mann is one of the wealthiest NRIs from Punjab. Settled in California, he runs a chain of nine restaurants under his own brand name, ‘ Royal Taj’. They offer traditional and authentic Indian cuisine. He is a name to be reckoned with in the Food Industry.

20. Mr. Jaspal Singh Bajwa

An MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, Mr. J.S. Bajwa brought Ray-Ban sunglasses and Bausch and Lomb soft contact lenses to South Asia. This led to an expatriate assignment as Head of B & L Canada. In 2003, he became the Chief Operating Officer for Marico (Parachute, Saffola) and later for Dr. Reddy’s Branded Generics worldwide. Today, he helps corporate executives and business – leaders thrive in a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) world.

21. Mr. Mukhtiar Randhawa

Well into the Garment Industry, Mr. Mukhtiar Randhawa and his two Ex-Dagshanian brothers, Mr. Kuldip and Balbinder were running eighty boutiques in Europe. Their garments were being supplied to several departmental stores in France, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway under the brand label of, “Sukhmani of London”. Their company, Saab Textiles Ltd. was registered in London.

22. Mr. Daljit Singh Dhanjal

An aeronautical engineer Mr. D.S. Dhanjal worked for U.S. Airways for many years. Then he went into his family business, running an advertising paper, “Thrifty Ad: The Want Paper,” which was an equally successful venture.

23. Ms. Sukhmani Ganguly

The Secretary of the Dagshai Public School, Ms. S. Ganguly (MBA) has been a consultant to the Modi Group of companies, successfully handling various aspects of their business administration.

24. Mr. Saurabh Suman Sinha

Mr. S. S. Sinha, a practitioner of law is an up-coming lawyer in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court. He appears across India for a variety of clients. His forte is taking on hopeless cases. He believes in understanding any subject comprehensively, a quality he endeavours to imbibe in his junior colleagues. “It is imperative to thoroughly understand a subject before acting.”

25. Ms. Mehr Thapar

A sought after cinematographer and still photographer, Mehr Thapar runs ‘Emotive Lens’ which is a media solutions company. Besides making national and international corporate films for WHO, WWF, INDIGO, CEEW to name a few, other genres of shoots are well within the ambit of her audio – visual projections.
